Yesterday, I was fundraising at my city's baseball stadium and a security guard was driving me on this golf cart around the block so that I can go to the bathroom....not that you necessarily needed to know that. Anyway, I came out of T.G.I. Friday's and saw two waiters talking to the security guard. I didn't think anything of it. As we were leaving, the security guard told me that the waiters thought i was cute. Then I thought, "Is that suppose to impress me?" I mean.... it was a nice compliment, but what am I suppose to do? Find those guys and get their numbers? I don't think so. Well, this isn't a big deal. In the past, I've had people who say, "I just know you from somewhere" out of the blue, but unless my memory serves me wrong, I've never seen the guy in my entire life. Or just some people in their cars would go as primitive as honking and barking like dogs.
For those of you who have had some desperate guy or gal you would never see yourself dating, how do these people attempt to gain your attention? And how do you respond to them?

Yeah, it's fun getting hit on by creative people or just really dumb people because it's funny sometimes. Like that middle aged Indian man at the plaza that was like "You have nice joogles." I was very disgusted, but was kind of laughing inside because it was funny and his accent made it even funnier. Some guys also used the "Did it hurt? When you fell from heaven?" pickup line on me, and it was lame and overused enough to be funny. It's all flattering, except when they try to touch. >_< Once a guy was badly hitting on me at the plaza (yes, I go there often). I was sitting around and he started talking to me. He kept taking off his shirt or flipping it up and saying, "How sexy am I? Aren't I so sexy?" I thought he was joking at first, but then I realized that he really did think his tubby belly was God's gift to women. Then he was like "Let's play a game. Okay. What if uh, like, uh, one day, you go up to me, and uh, be like, uh... askin', um... askin' me if I had a girlfriend and I said no. Then uh, I asked you out, and yeah, uh, yeah." And he kept asking if I liked him and if he could get my number. I just said, "Who the hell are you anyway?!" He was some 12 year old kid. I thought he was 10 when I saw him. When he rode away on his bike, he was like "I like your breasts!" Weird kid. Very cocky too, since I've seen him try to shove around and threaten some bigger guys before a couple times. Eck.

nah i never been hit on but i have a good story for that.
when i was 18 i took sum of my friends to the indian casino's and my friend tammy got hit on constantly there. First off a buncha vietnamese gang members pulls up stares at her w/ their integra w/ 1 fog light in center. They stare for a while then go inside and a few minutes later run into her. \
them
"Cannna ahhhh getchooo numba mang, mah name iz _______, u looooooku prudy sexsay to me mang"
tammy responding to them in vietnamese.
"shez like no way who the f--- are u guyz???"
them
"come on mang u knoooo u wanta ride wit miiiiiii"
tammy
"no way my number is 555-22good 4 u"
2hrs pass we're chillin out side joking around bout the vietnamese fob gangsters... my friend rich goes "5 dolla make ya holla" in sum vietnamese accent impersination. then Tammmys friend starts calling her "5 dolla hoe" then sum old white man in a trailer rolls up and goes "i''ll ride her for 5 dollars!" shez amazingly mad now....
end of story

I usually get the 'exotic' thing from white or Japanese guys. Exotic is nice if you're a flower or a car. I've always interpreted it as meaning, "Your looks do not conform to conventional beauty standards, therefore you are by default interesting."

My friend and I went out tonight and we climbed on top of a batting cage and started jumping around. We looked down and saw a guy with a camera and he asked us if he could take pictures of us. We were like "uhh..." then we see two flashes. What kind of guy goes lurking around at night with a camera, asking to take pictures of chicks?

It depends what you mean by "dirty". If they're licking their lips slowly.... perhaps, they're trying to grab your attention. If they're giving you the "cleft" lip, then maybe it's time to move out of ktown. :D

i agree ...some people just dont know how to read into body language. i sometimes use that whole "im taken" thing, too, just get people to leave me alone. i remember earlier this year i got so freaked out that i ran off and ended up getting lost quite a ways from home. it was very traumatizing for me. :(
we should start listing the lamest pickup lines we ever heard. one of my more recent gems: "uhh youre cute...and i dont know my way around this mall. can i have ur number in case i get lost?"

a freakish guy. thats disturbing...ever wonder what he DID with ur pictures afterwards?
actually i was once buying food from a vendor that frequents a group hangout and he said i was cute and asked if he could take a picture with me. i ended up doing it only because i felt too bad to turn him down. also everyone was pushing me into it anyway cuz "everyone knows mark!" he still comes around and now everyone knows him a lot better so i dont worry about it.

I've never been hit on which, unfortunately, makes it necessary that I take a more active approach to meeting women. (this angler-fish method of mine just doesn't seem to work) But with all these stories of whack-ass pick up attempts, how exactly do all you women suggest guys go about introducing themselves/opening up the lines of communication in a manner so as to not put you on the defensive (for example, at a club or bar)? I'm guessing that a simple, "Hi, how're you doing?" is generally a safe-ish bet...? Or does it really all depend on your own particular mood at the time, whether the dude is "hot" or other factors beyond the dude's control?

You could, for one, go for chicks your age. But I'm assuming you've got that down already. Don't be dirty or jerkish. Compliments don't hurt. "Hi, how are you?" works fine but sometimes it leads to silence or an awkward conversation. You can also compliment them nicely. Or you can try starting a friendly conversation with them. Such as "Wow. This place sure is busy today. You come here often?" If it goes well, you can maybe ask to get together sometime. Sometimes dumb pickup lines do work, because they make us laugh. You should have them view you as a friendly humourous guy. Make eye contact with them, but don't stare. You can look away sometimes, but don't make it seem like you're not paying attention and trying to get away. Don't stare at their cleavage, don't stare down at your feet, and don't look her up and down. Don't touch. You can accidentally brush against her or bump into her though. Accidentally. If you touch too soon at the wrong times (even if you try to make it seem innocent), it might make you look like you're coming on too strong. I could give more advice, but I think this is enough to get you going.

i think every girl has been hit on before. gardeners, delivery men (read: men in trucks) will honk at any female, any age, just because their job is boring.
in high school, i was hit on more often and it was always entertaining. i would give out the berkeley fire department number and write "i'm hot--call me." kinda cheesy, but funny. after my first break-up, i started giving out my ex-bf's number...til he got pissed :(
some of the guys were cute, and i would have gone out with them--but the problem was--how can you give your number out to a guy that just approaches you like that? i would just play the 'hard-to-get' thing...and go home and be sad and alone. :( :(
i've also been chased a few times. once, during college, this guy made his sister approach me at a pho restaurant to give me his number. when my friend and i finished eating, we went outside and he and his friends were waiting outside. i freaked out and started running and they all chased us. for over 15 minutes! i finally ran into ebmud (water dept.) and had a secretary call the cops. i was escorted outside--and the guys were still waiting. the guy said, "why'd you run? i just wanted to know your name." i was pretty pissed off by then, told him my name, went home, called him--i still remember his name--brandon--and told him to meet me in milpitas the next day (a city pretty far from where he lived. needless to say, i didn't show up . advice to females--when chased--just call the cops. it's not worth the risk. i mean--who chases people?
RX: remember the borders guy that we thought stalked me all the way to law school and stole stuff from my mailbox? :D
anyhow, i don't get hit on anymore. :)

it could mean that you're really hot--if you've never been hit on.
haven't you read articles by "really hot chicks" whining about never getting hit-on because they're too hot and guys are intimidated by them?

Do you think that's very common though? I'd say those girls are in the minority. Most girls I've seen that're deserving of such attention are kinda...bitchy. Perhaps it's those girls that make guys fearful of "beautiful" women...?=P
Question: If you were to make a generalization, would you say that there's a negative correlation between physical attractiveness and "niceness?" That's my theory (no offense to you beautiful YW people), but then again, I'm one of those disgruntled, insecure "nice guys."=P Of course, I know several people that seem to break that mold so who knows...

I've rarely been hit on before, but strangely when I have I've always cowered away. When I was young I'd have girls brush their hands on my butt. When I was older I'd have mainly hispanic girls look at me and smile. What I'd like is to be shopping at a supermarket and have a girl ask me to cook for her or offer to cook for me. Or be at a video store and have a girl ask me if she can watch a video at my place or offer her place. I love it when a girl writes on my hand.

i tend to think that these girls just get hit on by guys who are a little bit narcissistic, instead of not getting hit on at all.
