Maybe i'm behind on the times but I just noticed Doug Robb was a hapa. Actually he looks pretty Japanese from most pics that i've seen. I guess this is some kind of landmark an asian looking singer for a mainstream U.S. band.
Linkin Park's got a hapa (lead MC) and a full-asian dude (DJ).
But yeah, I've known that the lead singer of Hoobastank was hapa. I think it's more noticeable now because he has short hair. When they first came out a few years ago, he had shaggy hair that tended to cover his face.

i just think they don't make it an issue that they're half asian. people don't ask, they don't say. i heard that the lead singer from the yeah yeah yeahs makes it known that he's hapa, but it all depends on who's asking.

I dunno the guy looks pretty asian to me that's why I mentioned it because I saw Doug Robb's pic on a yahoo ad for their band.

Why'd he wait until New Years?
I go between liking and disliking Linkin Park, only because every other verse is yelling-the-words.

thats the whole emo/pop-punk trend nowdays anyway. i don't like it much, but it does capture some sort of emotion.

Yeah, in the listener.
I listen and think, "Fuuuug, not more yelling-singing!"
It's a novelty for sure to have a few songs in the old mp3 collection, but not a whole library of "yelling breaks".

aw, Crawling is my favorite song off that album. the video is awesome too. directed by Joe Hahn.
hmph. i think there are more annoying voices in music, and they don't even have to scream to be annoying. they just sing!

You have a point, moJo. This is why I stick to house music/electronica without voices :D

Johnny > Linkin Park. Not only does he rule that much harder, he would kill the members in the most painful, tortured of ways and paint the walls red with their blood.

It's interesting how this thread has gone...because Linkin Park's playing San Jose's Arena next month, with P.O.D. and Hoobastank.

i KNOW! :) tickets go on sale SUNDAY! (sorry for the caps, i'm excited.) I like POD, too. Hoobastank...eh, they're okay, at least not that great live. they opened for Incubus when i saw them. maybe i was just antsy waiting for the real show.

SUNDAY!
...SUNDAY! SUNDAY! Giant robot cars!
Ha, anyway...just make sure you get there early enough to avoid the Arena's extortionate parking prices.
There's good street parking in the back streets around Henry's Hi-Life, but those get snatched up pretty quickly. There's a lot of street parking NW of the Arena, but it's kind of sketchy walk.
Your best bet is to park in the free garage on San Pedro St. at Santa Clara St. It's a four or five block walk from there, but it's in the heart of the Santa Clara strip and it's eminently safe both in terms of you and your car. You can also maybe luck out with parking around the De Anza Hotel (Notre Dame Ave., N. Almaden Ave., etc.
And that area has a good number of favorite restaurants/bars. If you want suggestions for pre/post-show dining/drinking, let me know. If I have a 'hood, that's it.

Hoobastank is decent, though I'm more of an Incubus fan, truth be told. Just something about the rhythm in Brandon Boyd's singing, man.
