Well i need to replace my SARD blow off valve cuz its kinda leaking and the springs a lil beat.

heres my choices:

blitz Dual Drive - very loud but makes this bus like dumping sound.

http://www.blitz-na.com/Image/DD2.jpg

Greddy type R- kinda weak spring but makes the notorious high pitched whistle.

http://www.greddy.com/products/images/blowoffvalves.gif

HKS SSQV - weird sounding but highquality unit.

http://www.hksusa.com/images_products/L_1160.jpg

HKS racing blow off valve for high boost apps

these are the common types avalible in the united states.

there are couple weird ones i considered: ARC, Apex-i Twin Camber, SARD R2D2 but then again i rather have sumthing easy to replace and that i can get again if it breaks.

jizza? sy?

right now im leaning toward blitz to match my Blitz LM FMIC

I heard the Blitz unit is very loud. I suppose it depends on the application though. My bro had a SupraTT and the same GReddy Type-S BOV. Mine is moderately loud on my MR2 Turbo and his you could barely hear, even at 19psi.

Btw, I hope you are running a MAP sensor.

no Sr20det cars use MAF sensors and it does cause the car to stall sumtimes (rare) mostly its how tight u turn the adjustment and u try to get it so the spring doesnt leak air/boost and then u wont have too much a problem w/ stalling. thats what i do w/ my current SARD blow off valve. The main reason i changed it was because i didnt feel like cutting the Sard off its factory piece and rather sell it.

2nd reason is simple for the choice of blitz was that their S14 blow off valve kit comes w/ a hot pipe thats designed to mate w/ my blitz LM intercooler kits piping (note both are laying around "the shop" since its been busy for them and for me (GMAT).

I didnt feel like using my friends old cheapo mild steel painted pipe on my car.

I suppose the harder you turn the spring, the less chance the BOV gets to do it's job. It is for this reason that I keep my BOV somewhat loose, but not to the point that I leak boost.

exactly thats what i do now and all Sr people do also no other way unless u use the stock recirculating valve or a bypass valve

Time to convert to MAP.

That's a great excuse to go with a MoTec, Electromotive, etc. <_<

no way then my power FC ecu upgrade wont work, silvia was designed to use MAF sensors and its not a big deal 300zx TT and Skyline MAFs bolt on as does the larger KA24DE one.

also u forgot the ultimate MAF/MAP replacement the HKS Vein Pressure Converter.

I have an HKS VPC and I think it sucks for the money spent. The idle is not quite as good as stock and the HP gain was minimal. It also makes gurgling noises (which I no longer notice over the resonating of my Power Extreme). I think I will have a cat fabbed for the exhaust to cut down on noise and also make it stink less.

Btw, I think they are discontinuing the VPC. The price is too steep for what you get.

The only useable features on the VPC are the idle mixture adjustment and gain. The adjustments are about +-14% but I can't remember since I always leave them at 0.

HKS has improved their site now and they have a few manuals online... but I think it still needs work.

the vpc is discontinued. as far as tuning, the fcon-s runs circles around the vpc. stand alones like the aem unit and power fc are becoming increasingly affordable which lead to its demise.

i had the blitz bov originally. came with a hardpipe kit, and sounded cool, but i didn't like the response. sold it and bought an hks ssqv. it performs okay, good response, but it sounds like a friggen bird chirping. i've got a custom pipe kit in the works and have ordered an hks racing bov. this one will vent back into the intake. we'll see how this one ends up.

i got the blitz kit w/ hard pipe and we'll see how it is, if its response is too slow i'll pick up sumthing else and chop off the flange and re weld on a new one.

also i have a 2nd hot pipe off one of my other S14.5 friends cars...whenever i go pick it up from him.

I'm getting rid of my VPC once my TEC2 is fully tuned (after GT25R turbo install). I have both installed in the car right now and quick disconnects to swap between stock ECU/VPC and TEC2.
