Ok so this may sound lame and all but I watched World Idol last night  Normally, I'm not a fan of the American Idol but I was curious to see how the other singers sounded like, considering this was a World Idol. So I watched it and wow, I was blown away by some of the other singers. On a sidenote, I tried my darnest to not like Kelly Clarkson but she totally wowed me last night with her rendition of "I feel like a woman." Her voice was so powerful and better than any other singer I've heard of! And that includes Christina. WoW! She'll definitely present a challenge to the other singers.

Alrite, enough of the praise on her. Now on to my other favorites. I really liked the Australian idol. I forget his name but his voice was so natural and I loved it! Even his song  It totally flowed and I enjoyed it immensely. Another one was the Pan Arab idol, Diana Karazon. Her voice was absolutely beautiful even though I didn't understand what she was singing since it was in Arabic:P But it had this haunting quality to it, which kept me in enthralled. But methinks she won't win most likely since she didn't sing in English. All of the other 10 singers sung in English though. But she's definitely gotten me interested in listening to Arab music. Now if only I knew what she was saying  The last one I liked was the one from GB. I forget his name but his voice was unique from most of the other singers, most of them male. I can't really explain it but I liked the quality that his voice exuded.

Did anyone else watch it and what's your predictions??

I'm in between the Australian guy, the GB guy, and Kelly Clarkson.

Kelly Clarkson has a powerful bluesy voice. She can definitely kick it. I don't think she has the more subtle refined control and upper range of an Xtina or Tamyra Gray, though. Unfortunately, I missed the show - but I am a big fan of the Idol series. I think it brings music to the people and shows how much unrealized potential many of us actually have.

Really? I admit Christina has a wonderful voice but sometimes I feel she overdoes it a little bit but oh well:)

Yeah I totally agree with bringing music to the people and seeing how much potential a lot of us could have but I also like to see AI sometimes due to the silly antics that a lot of people go through to get on the show or even to sing in front of the judges. I know I wouldn't be able to keep myself from laughing my head off practically every time hehe For instance, they showed some of the worst AI moments throughout the world but the best one was of that dude who tried to sing Madonna's Like a Virgin. Oh man, I just about died laughing and seeing the judges' expressions, especially Simon's!

Didn't Kelly get slammed by one judge when she sang "Natural Woman"?

Yeah she did by the Canadian judge. He was the only one who didn't like her performance, which was a surprise. Another thing that happened was that he got slammed for his comments by Simon, who of course had to go last and told him that he wasn't fit to judge Kelly. Can you believe that??? I swear, sometimes I want to sock Simon on the head.

Heard snippets of the slamming on the radio news. He's wrong about her ability to belt-out the tune.

I recorded this for my BF, but I found the whole Pop Idol thing torture to watch (esp. when my fave singer was voted out).

i watched it... only cause i like kelly clarkson.. she made me cry once.. yes as cheesey as it sounds she's really good...
but if i had to say, i would say will young..( the england guy ) Guy Sebastian (Australia) and kurt nilsen ( norway ) were also good..
and the thing about simon( this also may sound stupid.. )but i actually like the guy.... his bluntness is what we need sometimes.. and he has the balls to do it so let it be.... most people in the music buiness are actually like that.. just not shown on tv... but also who can really hate simon? he's the guy we all love to hate.. but i just like him.... reading his book also made a lot of sense... (yes i read his damn book..... it's actually very good)
but some of those judges there need a hearing check cause they don't know what the difference from good to great is... esp that lebonese dood... and also that canadian ass...
i think the best judges were the belgian judge and the british judge... of course simon added.. and yes this is just my opinion

i like simon, but i disagree with him when it comes to nora jones. he thinks she's a boring singer, but i think it's sultry

i didn't hear about what he said about norah... but i think she's talented.. some of her songs may be boring to you but she's a jazzy singer... so it's just her style..

the best line of the entire night was said by one of the judges.... you have the voice of an angel and the face of a hobbit in reference to the guy from Norway, which in my opinion was hands down the best singer there... next would be the rocker from Belgium or Holland.

ack. i knew i forgot somebody! the norwegian guy was great as well. the choice is tough to make between who's the best.

Wow. Simon doesn't recognize talent when he sees it. Norah Jones is a wonderful artist. I love her Come Away With Me.

I watched the whole thing during my Christmas Day with my cousins. As a Brit, my votes proudly goes to Will Young because of his jazz version of The Doors 'Light my fire' (although it has been overplayed in UK now...)

With the Simon judgement, i think it's more of the fact it's his personal preferences not to mention, he does create these stars with talent.

In honesty though, none of them but the 3 (US,UK,Norway) and australia may win it. The rest didn't seem to really put that big effort of wanting to win it just because they already won their own country's version. Come to think of it, then girl from middle east actually had an amazing voice.

The definate dark horse of the show is the guy from Norway, he killed those high notes when he sang 'Beautiful Day', by US.

Yes, it's on television now, isn't it? And here I thought I was finally rid of "Idol" shows. Curse you, TV, curse you.

LOL aww...c'mon now. Some of it isn't that bad, especially when they have good singers

Reality shows annoy me. Watching people prostitute themselves in front of millions (billions?) for fame, wealth and glory just isn't my thing. Others like it, I prefer my animals on Discovery.

I really liked the Canadian guy (and not just because I'm a Canuckian)... I want him to win but I don't think he will. And the guy from Norway was just awesome.

I hate Kelly Clarkson... just 'cuz. She can sing, but I really don't want her to win.

I was "surprised" that it was World Idol and yet there was only Western and European representation. What... third world countries aren't part of the world? They shoulda called it 'Caucasoid Idol'.
