Hell no, it's got Ben Affleck in it. Can't possibly be any good if he's the lead actor.

WHAT YOU SAY! Ben Affleck's an excellent actor, his P. R.'s just shitty.
And Uma Thurman. Mmmmm.

eh, the moment i heard the premise i was groaning. guy loses memory and has to kick ass (the Ben Identity anyone?) i mean Bourne was alright but cmon

Oh come on. Did you actually see Gigli? I didn't, so never mind, but if you haven't either than you can't really talk one way or another about his acting. And in everything else I've seen him he was damn good.
J. Lo, on the other hand...

i personally dont hate B.Affle i think he's a likable guy. i cant stand J.Lo though and im certainly sick of hearing from The Media about how The Media is too caught up in Bennifer.

I really don't care to see this movie because 1) Ben's in it and 2) the story line sounds pretty lame. Plus I've seen his other movies and I've tried to like him as an actor but dang, he cannot act. He has this deer caught in the headlights look when he tries. His Forces of Nature was horrible and Daredevil?? Ugh. Give me a break. Pearl Harbor was ok as well as Armageddon but in general, I don't like his acting.

The only decent film he's starred in was Chasing Amy and maybe Jay and Silent Bob!

that's what i was going to say, too. and i like armageddon, but not because of his acting ability.
i probably won't see Paycheck, primarily because he's the lead (at least it's billed that way). Also, it does sound a whole lot like his best friend's film, The Bourne Identity.

Yeah that sounds fishy to me. Damon is much a better actor by far in comparison to Affleck. But then again, his latest movie Stuck on you was baffling. Let's hope Affleck won't go that route...or will he? :)

well the two of them are like, i duno how to explain it, "eclectic"
they will do something "sophisticated" and then go "hmm i think ill do a grossout comedy..."

I think I'll go see it. Affleck is a decent actor in most movies, but he's somewhat hit or miss.
The storyline actually sounds more like Memento than Bourne Identity with the idea of leaving yourself clues.
Plus, I like John Woo movies.

about John Woo, i think he's alright but im not like "WOOOOOOO" u know? i think he tends to overkill (literally) a lot

^"wooooooo!!!! wooooooo!!!" *lame pun police siren*
"Quick, hide mr. X!!!"
*mr. x ducks and tumble rolls behind his desk*
*police stops and turns on the flood light*
*mr. x freaks out and runs*
*que helicopter*
*mr. x pulls out two guns (one in each hand) and begins running.*
woooo, i see where this is going
*mr. x shoots 20 inept police officers dead. 50 innocent bystanders die too, except for a lil boy who's wounded.
*grizzled cop sees this happening, gets pissed and whips out his desert eagles.
*mr. x feels bad about shooting the kid and tries to carry him to hospital.
*grizzled cop kills mr. x, but not before mr. x hands over the kid making him promise he'll save him.

Probably because Ben Assfleck is in it.

too over the top for me, but i spose thats his style. i thought his Hong Kong stuff was over the top too.
seriously though theres a point when his action goes from stylish to just plain pornographic

So did I, nicolas cage as Castor Troy was just a great piece of classic ham acting.
The problem with John Woo is too many other directors have mimicked his style. That means everytime he uses his own trademarks it becomes cliche. I heard studios enjoy messing with his work too adding in bits and changing what they think should be "woo" which ends up being a mess like Windtalkers.
Paycheck looks horrible simply because affleck is in it. Matter of fact affleck looks wooden and constipated in just about every role he's ever been in. I imagine if you put Affleck and Keanu in the same movie together it might win multiple razzy awards for worst acting.

He does? Maybe I missed all of his greatest hits where he blew the audience away with actual emotions and facial expressions.
Anyways I dunno it's just my opinion I guess, it's not that I think Affleck is awesome, but he's definitely better than Keanu in the acting department.
Regarding Nicolas Cage, yea I'm a big fan of his unique way of acting, even though he plays almost like the same type of quirky character in all his films, but hey don't fix what's not broke right?

Hahha ok I admit that Keanu has a stoic look most of the time but I guess that's due to his charm  Which is why the Matrix was the perfect role for him hehe
Oh yeah definitely a Cage fan. He blows both Affleck and Keanu away with his acting. Quirky can be charming

keanu did his best acting in the bill and ted series. TUBULAR!
nicholas cage is up there with the guy from american beauty. kevin spacey. they actually both look alike to me. they both play weird out there roles. and they both have a reciding hairline.

i went to see this because the parents and family friends wanted to go watch it, so i just went along with them.
john woo action - not really that impressed because i grew up on his car chases and action sequences anyway. plus it wasn't one of his better films in my personal opinion.
ben affleck - he sucks and i didn't like him in this movie.
uma thurman - every movie i see her in, she seems to get uglier. plus i couldn't stop thinking about her ugly feet. "wiggle your big toe".

That's because she keeps getting beat with an ugly stick in each action movie she plays.

i dunno... i loved face/off... positively orgasmic (but i hadn't seen john woo before)... it's still like my favourite action movie. i think woo does action better than anyone in america... but then there was the hulk so my faith in him is somewhat shaken.
i'm gonna see this and just ignore uma and ben.

i watched the Hulk again on DVD, and my friend and i were watching the "extra features". apparently, Ang Lee did some of the modeling himself for the Hulk's movements, when he couldn't get the model actors to do what he really wants the Hulk to do.

did i just mix up ang lee and john woo???? stupid stupid stupid.
then i can't think of a john woo disappointment... mission impossible 2?
^ Once a Thief, which seems to air on TV weekly, seems pretty bad. Bad, bad acting, wow. I haven't watched the entire thing, though.

I'll wait for Paycheck on DVD....(just to see how they translate Philip K. Dick's story to the screen)...
the problems is, two of felipe's short stories-turned-movies (minority report and this) just aren't done justice. i'll admit, minority report was fun to look at, but still...

i think "future" movies in general tend to have something going against it, namely believability. to create a consistent, plausible future setting is tough let alone getting the budget and the actors to recreate it on set.
thats why animation does it so much better

Oh yes, but a movie about two little vertically challenged dudes fighting a horde of misshapen ugly trolls to go destroy a ring that talks to them is alright?

yes  in the sense that from the start you're given plenty warning to suspend your disbelief. it's not about humans, it's not about human issues (not directly anyway), just some good ol' storytelling. the other thing is that, tolkien > dick, imho

Saw this movie on DVD.
Ben's role was alright. The premise of the movie had potential. But beeing that it was a Woo film, rather than some other director, I think the premise was lost in the action -- of which there wasn't as much of.
I luvs me some Uma. But her role was sort of sketchy.
