How much better can makeup make one look? Are the upgrades that great? Can it really do magic?
This is coming from someone who has worn lipstick less than 3 times in her entire life, who does not know how to apply eye liner, who has the hardest time trying to curl her eyelashes, who doesn’t own any eye shadow, and who does not see the benefits of mascara.

Depends on what makeup, what person, and how much makeup. I've heard that some makeup makes people feel more confident about their image as well as enhance it. I myself like the natural look. Eyeliner, shine control stuff, and lip gloss is enough for me. I don't like overdone people that might as well be makeup with a person applied to it rather than vice versa. I know one girl that doesn't wear a lot of makeup, but when she does (often on formal or semi-formal or any other special occasion), she looks like a porcelain doll. Nasty.

I think the least you can get away with the better; some eye makeup and lip gloss looks good to me.
And I don't like the way all that skin/face makeup tastes. :P

I wonder if they're gonna start making flavoured makeup. I know they've already got the flavoured lip stuff, but what if suddenly they made it enjoyable for people to slurp each other's faces and eyes?

I personally am too lazy to wear makeup. It's kind of too bad b/c I read somewhere that women who wear make up actually tend to do better at work (w/regard to other people). Probably that can be at least partially attributed to their feeling more confident when wearing it (as mentioned by Saiko). Lipstick is actually not bad b/c it only takes a couple of seconds to apply & makes it look like you at least tried - but I'm too lazy even for that. I don't know if I'll ever grow out of the mentality that I value my sleep more than my appearance (I also jump out of the shower, comb my hair & leave for work with it wet :P ). But I'm not sure how much of a diffrence it (makeup) can actually make - I tend to think I look sort of the same - which is maybe why I don't bother.

I don't know how people can put foundation on their faces and expect men to kiss them. Doesn't it taste chalky? My skin's on the oily side... blame genetics and the city where I live. So, I can't put a lot of make up on my face anyway except for a dab of oil-free concealer to hide those horrible yet temporary blemishes. Any shine-free product that goes on CLEAR works for me. Summer in St. Louis is humid, and consequently, horrible for my skin. What has been great for my face is glycerin soap. It leave my face very clean... not dry like some other soaps I've used in the past. Anyway, as far as lip stick is concerned, I don't like anything flamboyant. The closest to my natural lip color, the better. If I can buy it clear or with a tiny shade lighter or darker on the neutral side, I'm content. As for mascara, I use it minimally. I don't even remember the last time I used it. It's funny because where I work doesn't require me to put on make up anyway. I'm a "facial and bodily cleaning products-spaz" more than I am for make-up.

I wouldn't know because my lips can't exactly reach my cheeks and I don't wear foundation anyway. But I'd imagine that guys don't fancy frenching the girls' faces. And if they do, I'm staying far away from them.

But I thought you could care less what ppl think about the way you look. I mean, your always beautiful any time of the day inside and out-- so why even hide your blemish?? beauty is skin deep...

i noticed a lot of asian girls wear mac. is there a reason for this?
i just use random sephora brands. loose powder only when necessary. clear mascara on my eyebrows and lashes. eyeliner on some occasions. and my vanilla berry lip glaze always.

make up made just for asians: zen, shiseido, what else?

I'm glad you asked. When I put a dab of concealer on a few of my pin drop-sized blemishes, I'm not covering nickel-sized spots nor masking the entire area of my face. The blemish I have aren't very noticable. Applying tiny drops of concealer on me doesn't necessarily mean that I believe that beauty is ONLY skin deep. Such a presumption or fallacy is worth questioning. After I apply the concealer, my skin may still be uneven toned. Despite this minor"imperfection", I don't feel compelled to add any more than what I want. My make-up comes at a minimum. Usually, I spend most of my time "splashing" cleaning agents on my face just to keep it from becoming too oily in this humidity. In addition, I do not put on concealer consistently all the time. On the days I don't, my friends and the people at my work place still treat me just the same. When I decide to put it on, they may or may not compliment me. It's nice to be complimented, but I don't think it's the few dabs of concealer that really made the difference. So, I honestly don't necessarily have to wear concealer all the time for any blemish, but it's my choice if I want to use it or not.

i wear minimal makeup most of the time -- ive gotten so used to wearing it that i feel funny without it. of course sometimes i get lazy and stroll around with it, however most of the time other people notice if im "naked." my one must have makeup essential: lip gloss.

MAC is some good stuff. I don't think it's just Asians. A lot of other people use it too, or wish they could afford it. I only have their lipstick and it's the shiznat.

I like make-up.
I love lip glosses... I own over 200 lip glosses..though 90 of them are diff flavours of bonne bell lip smackers... Lip glosses/balm rock, I can't live w/o them... If I'm somewhere and I dont have any lip gloss on me, i'll buy anything..even If i hate that preticular kind the store has because my lips chap easily... (thank you rochester, ny's cold weather)
I even give my friends lip glosses as gifts...hehe. If i goto sephora, i will almost always, walk out with a lip gloss or two...
I'm into the natural look... I've gone w/o any make up and people would tell me I look tired... my skintone is dull, so I need bit of extra color to make me look awake..haha.
