What is your defination of "Love"?
I use to think "love" is when you can be completely honest and comfortable with someone, but now I think it's when you can use somebody for something and for that person to be ok with it.

That's so sad and cynical. I think it's when you can be someone's best friend and their lover and for it not to be weird.

romantic love, not friendship love... i don't think it's negative, positive actually. "using somebody" isn't a bad thing when it makes them happy

perhaps one can argue that it is okay so long as it makes them happy... but your question is about whether or not it's okay. it's about whether or not this 'allowance of being used' is the definition of love.
i think that it's hard to define love... we all have some common themes to define love which for most people, is usually trust and respect. along with it comes acceptance of certain faults (to an extent) and the commitment to work out problems/obstacles (instead of trying to run away from them as all relationships will have their set of issues throughout life).
but i don't agree, at least for myself, that love is about 'using some one'. that to me, is more a relationship that's settled into a loveless comfort zone. and sure... all long term relationships get to a stage where it's natural that one person takes the other for granted. and there will always be some selfish reasons for people to stay in a relationship.
but these factors alone are not love.
in fact, i'm willing to bet that these factors alone will contribute to either a failed relationship or one that will stay but be loveless and meaningless.

honestly, i totally agree with that, i really don't want to describle or define something for myself that may change in the future. also, love is different for different people and most of their definitions are valid as well.

to me its like the highest form of friendship. therefore "love at first sight" is bullshit
which is kinda the whole premise of Romeo and Juliet, and to me his proposing to her on the NIGHT of the day he met her is pretty fantastical. man Shakespeare was hollywood before there was hollywood.

i knew love when i found it BECAUSE of all the past relationship experiences i had... i honestly don't think i would have recognized it w/out all those other relationships that never lasted.
for me, my husband was the first guy i could see myself not just being with for the rest of my life, but some one i actually could commit to working out any obstacles that come our way.
it's weird... love is wonderful, beautiful and quite amazing. but it's also very hard work... and for me, it was just this moment of realization that i wanted to go forth with this hard work... and not panic about it.

Love is...
When I wake up and rub my eyes only to see that He had prepared my toothbrush with a slab of toothpaste along with a cup filled with water before leaving to work.
When He says I`m beautiful even on a krusty day with yucky blemishes and zits covered all over my face.
When He remembers that I love to chew on seaweed and comes home with a bucket full.
When He realizes that both our favorite cartoon is Danger Mouse then goes ahead and orders the full collection of the tapes online so that we could laugh our heads off together.
When He hears songs that totally bug him but will still bear with it only cuz I`m blasting it.
When He introduces me to his family and friends and never leaving my side, asking me how I`m doing every so often.
When He tells me to hold still out of the blue and brings out a camera to snap a memorable shot.
When He gets mad at me when I clown on myself.
When He just stares at me with those beautiful, amazing eyes...and say nothing at all.
These are the little things He does that mean so much to me...that reminds me that his love is unconditional.

Love in a relationship to me...
Is when you and whoever you are with are partners. Not just lovey dovey, not just kissy whateverz, not just saying I love you, not just this romance stuff you see on TV or movies, it's when you two work well together and mesh well. Love is when you the air you breath is your partner's and there can be no other. Love is that feeling of true partnership, when you know that person has your back and you have theirs.
Love is not blind for it sees all faults, all mistakes, all wrongdoings...yet embraces it nonetheless. Love is when you look into your partner's eyes and hear music in the air. Love is when you hear the beating of your partner's heart 1000 miles away. Love works with each other and not against.
Love is two halves that equal one whole. Even though they can survive without the other, it knows that it is not complete. Love is mature enough to not depend on the other, it is also patient enough to wait for the other half. Love is a good judge of when to spoil and when not to spoil. It knows what the other is thinking and vice versa.
Love makes each other laughs, cries with one another during a good movie, and smiles when it has ended. Love is honest for it has no secrets from one another. It is complete trust and acceptance for one another. Love can be the sweetest things and yet bitter at times. Nonetheless it is stronger during those bitter times as both know that there are brighter days ahead. Love supports one another through the good times and the bad. When one is weak, the other is stronger. But in the end, love balances one another so that both are harmonious with one another.
Love is the reflection of one another, it is balance, it is the true partnership of two become as one. Love is a beautiful thing because it can take two different persons and make them into a sum greater than the parts.
