Is Asian pride a fad?

I'm sure other Asians in the past quarter century have had the rah rah, Asian people need to unite mentality.

I wonder if they were all gung ho (pun intended) about this then realized, wait a minute, other Asians aren't as interested in this as I am, time for me to get on with my life. Let someone else pick up the fight.
