I've registered a few different ".com" domain names. But I am unfortunately identified for each, since I registered (and transfered my registration) to register.com.
Is there anyway to have my name kept from disclosure?

Think of something catchy, and wish. Yeah right. Been squatting with no luck for years.
Tried the ebay thing, but there's just too much out there.
I just don't like the idea of getting called @ home. And register.com has a thing about using fake names and addresses, I believe.

Most registrars have a feature that will allow you to "hide" the contact info. When people do a whois, they just get the contact info of the registrar. Besides, how many people are actually going to do a whois just to contact you...?
Well, you can put fake info in. You're not supposed to, and it can be grounds for getting your domain removed. Since you're squatting you don't really need extra reasons to get your domains WIPOd. Could always get a P.O. Box but can't do much about the phone number.
I've gotten snail mail spam through my whois, actually, but haven't gotten voice mail calls... yet. Under the new telemarketing rules, though, you have a bit of protection.
I think it depends on the registrar and it depends on whether or not you've got your own server.
But when I whois people, it seems like a lot of people give fake info--I see a lot of "555-1212" telephone numbers. And P.O. Boxes. My registrar wouldn't accept a P.O. Box.
A friend thought up a cool domain name and has recently received offers for as much as $15,000 for it. He doesn't want to sell it. I'd sell it in a second.

Know of some folks who have registered through godaddy.com, and all you get when you look up the domains registered through them is just their web site address.

If you registered through godaddy.com, click this link --
godaddy registrar checker (https://registrar.godaddy.com/whois.asp?isc=&se=%2B&from%5Fapp=&authGuid=)
to see if your info shows.

You don't necessarily have to, if you register with the right registrar.
Like networksolutions, which offers some sort of private registration feature (http://www.networksolutions.com/en_US/name-it/private.jhtml)
Heh ... And I think we all know why we might want to keep our registration info private.

Oo. Do tell.
Actually, I'd want to keep it private, so that I can run my web site(s) without fear of someone bugging me about it.

I got one that I am squatting on (no, not toiletbowlz.com), but one with the name "ibm" in it.
I wonder if making it into a amaturish pr0n site will get someone's attention.

hmm but wont putting a trademark/copyright/generallyknownbusinessname get you in legal trouble? at least the UN has that organization that gives rights to domain names (jrr tolkien for example) to the estates blah blah

cool. well i doubt if it gets too specific it'll fly. like u know ibmsolutions.com might be a bit of a stretch cuz most people just want ibm.com
go for something more general that A LOT of people would want, not just ibm, like u know
populartoy.com
or
myfavoritemusic.com
again im guessing but maybe they are taken already.
and is there a way to see if the domain is registered without putting it in at the risk of getting a porn site or a "your domain is not registered, register it today and use our search engine while your at it!"
