Have you been a victim of serious racism?

I'm not talking about mere slurs, dirty looks, or the typical passive aggressive racism that consists of people avoiding or ignoring you. I'm referring more to actual physical violence, intimidation, coercion that type of thing. My own story with this is, when I was about 17 some 19 year old piece of white trash (later found out he was a skinhead, had tattoos and everything) picked a fight with me calling me a "chink" or something like that and pushed me. He had a few of his friends in the car as backup. Anyways, I hocked spit right in his face and we fought for awhile. I wasn't hurt, he wasn't hurt basically it was a brawl.
Friend called the cops because he thought we were about to get jumped or attacked by his friends in the car.

A police officer came to take a statement and a detective followed up on it but nothing ever came of it. To be fair the police report was pretty accurate but there just wasn't anything they could do because it was our word against theirs. I thought it was pretty obvious who showed up to whose house but legally they were right..there's nothing that could be done.

The one time I remember very clearly was a time I was going into the Chambers Street subway station in Manhattan.

I'm not sure how old I was. I was young, though. Still in early junior high, I believe.

Anyhow, my mother was with me, but she was quite a ways away, so I probably did look as if I were alone, which may be the reason why this guy kept staring at me.

I stared back until he broke contact and then continued to look through the corner of my eye.

He seemed to have been talking on a payphone, or at least pretending, when all of the sudden he started banging it on the stand while screaming, "Fucking nigger! Fucking nigger! You mother fucking nigger! Fucking nigger!"

He did this nonstop.

I wasn't positive if I was the "fucking nigger." He was staring at me, but perhaps there was another "nigger" on the phone.

Anyhow, I continued through the turnstile and stood not too far from the phone and stayed there until my mother came into view.

I kind of motioned at the guy and she signaled to go on. If anything, she seemed pissed that I gave him the feeling that I was paying attention to him when I stopped and waited of her.

I proceeded down to the platform and I could finally hear the guy stop banging and screaming. People down there were laughing, but then we saw him coming down the stairs and starting giggling and starring.

Now, he is mumbling crap about "fucking niggers in this fucking country" and there were five people on the platform. Four women. Four BLACK women.

Of course we had to see humor in the situation.

The guy came past me mumbling crap and I turned around a bit and started talking to me mother.

People watching say that at that point he actually pushed me, but to me it felt like he tried to tip me onto the tracks, instead.

I didn't budge, though.

He walked down the platform and did the same, this time more obviously to a big woman standing near me.

Now that was very foolish. She was tall and heavy set--Larger than him. I think she was about to beat him, but at the same moment three or four Black guys were walking down the stairs on the other side of the platform.

The guy stopped his nigger rant and walked quickly away as if he were scared of them.

That probably saved his ass because it seemed as if big mama was about to hurt him. If the train wasn't coming, she probably would have chased him and put on a show.

man, that's tough. Luckily for me I haven't experieced anything that extreme. I've always had a hot temper when it came to this kind of thing so i guess people didn't mess with me.

At the time I thought he was pretending so that he could use that as his defense, but he may have been fruity for real.

If you are familiar to how that station was connected to the WTC back in the day, there was the WTC, you go out some doors into a station, you walk up a long hall-type of thing, and then you eventually enter the Chambers station.

That guy saw me midway of the long walk, yet he wasn’t pulling that bullshit.

Anyhow, after the first station, there wasn’t anyone there, besides my mother, but she was very far from me the whole time. She didn’t even see the guy until Chambers, so he may not have seen her.

If I was on his nerves and he wanted to harm me, he could have done it there.

However, he waits until Chambers?

One of the people who sold tokens (whatever you call them) and people walking in and out of the exits there. . .We weren’t alone anymore. So, it doesn’t make sense to start there and to be obvious about it either.

Then down on the platform? Again, I clearly wasn’t alone.

One of the ladies thought that maybe he’d try to push us all off, but I don’t know about that.

He was rambling like a nutcase, but when the guys came down the escalator, he started acting like a normal guy.

Yes I have. Mostly the ones that I have been bothered by were the mexicans. They will constantly provoke you... I had spit at me one time on the bus. I had mexicans try to rob while calling me chinese man... I have had blacks try to rob me. Put his hand directly into my pocket...I wont get into what I had to do him to keep away but it wasnt nice and that wasnt the last time things that have happened. I have had black people throw rocks at me. Try to destroy my instrument... usually insulting me by saying i am a chinese bitch. I have been alot more series with blacks and mexicans. Some I really don't want to talk about but I also was attacked in highschool by this chinese guy. He was calling japanese something or another. I remember he slaped me and I really went insane on him for that. I have only been attacked by a white racist once. I remeber he said something like "don't look at me with your slit eyes chink" "Can you see?" I continued to look at this fool. He got tired of this I suppose and got and pushed me out of my chair and kicked several times when I was on the ground. My reaction retaliate immediately. Before I could attack him he was already being restrained. That bothered me for the remaining parts of the week. I remember I had difficulty sleeping because I wanted to show who the chink really was. But I lost the desire to hurt him over the weekend and I just didnt care about it anymore.

When I was in high school up in Davis, a bunch of kids picked on me. At first... you think it's cuz you're small and an easy target. Then I realized that when they were spitting on me, calling me a slanty eyed chink bitch, or chinaman it was all to evident why they were targetting me.

Turns out they were all fans of hate (aka neo-nazis) and eventually they got expelled.

But not until I got my face rubbed raw into the ground, and ultimately me going partially insane and beating the crap out of one guy. But they put the beatings on me for a good 4 months.

It sucked being the new kid.

I got picked on a lot, but I don't think it was because I was Asian. I think it was because I was weak and unconfident. In fact, I often got picked on by other Asians, especially in Chinese school where people would pull down my pants and call me pink underwear. I got so pissed off once that I started throttling this younger and smaller kid; I'd only wished I had the guts and cunning to fuck over someone bigger than me w/o getting hurt. :)

YES! This black kid called me a "Chinese Bastard" This was like 1998, back when where I lived, alot of racism against asians, particulary chinese.

I was playing basketbal minding my own business. this black kid was short kid.He starts taunting me, and says: "Ching Chong Chang"

He started to push me and we started to fight.

I threw him down, and pinned him down most of the time, and I didnt try hard because if I really hurted him, he has like a 16 year old brother which is CRAZY.

It was guaranteed that will get his brother on me like screw up my house if I seriously kicked his ass.

It was a stalemate fight, I could have really messed him up, but since he has much of his friends and I had no backup, I was outnumberd.

Can you guys specify which state this was where the violence happened? I find the west coast to be more tolerant unless you live in some secluded enclaves (davis, fresno, and various cities in nocal.) I've never received much racism from hispanics down here either. It seems most of the racism i've experienced originates from whites.

careful with your language. if we're not going to tolerate racial slurs against asians, we should not tolerate them against any other race. try using the word 'asshole'. :happy:
