I know that different types of underwear (what it's made of) have different breathe-ability which means different "environments" down there.

My friend said that thongs cause yeast infections. Is that true?

Sorta. The structural nature of the apparel makes it easier for bacteria near the rectal area to travel towards the vagina, and can cause infections of all sorts (UTI, yeast infection, etc.). The risk increases if you get sweaty down there as moisture helps bacteria travel. Thongs that are too tight/small also increase this risk. The material does help. Cotton is best.

to answer the first post... yes, women who have a higher tendency to get yeast infections should stear clear of anything but cotton. and those who bad, re-occuring yeast infections should probably stay away from thongs too...
