In general, do you think certain races handle their drunkeness differently?

So many nights going home on the train, drunken white people can't handle their shit and do dumbass things on the train.

Headed home early tonight around 1ish. I was sitting across from this young chinese girl. She was sleeping. She was directly across it was 2 sets of 2 chairs facing each other. So 2 mid 30's women talking behind me keep screaming omg shut up you have so much wine and various drugs in your system!!! And giggling.

So this old guy prolly mid 40's, but dressed professionally, quite well I might add. Sits down and bumps the girl pretty hard. He slurs out a I'm sorry. I kinda give him this look, and he prolly thought I was with the girl and starts apologizing alot. I just ignore and sit up. Girl goes back to sleep. Guy is fucked up gets up and wanders a little, sits down and bumps her again. This time I'm just like hey, maybe u should relax and just take a seat. And I make him switch seats with me. Girl thanks me and shit, and the guy starts apologizing, slurring like mad. Really fucked up. This is like the 3rd time. My 1 white friend, when he gets drunk you literally have to carry him.

I guess the question is, not that can they handle their liqour but how they handle themselves once they've moved beyond "buzzed".

I guess the question is, not that can they handle their liqour but how they handle themselves once they've moved beyond "buzzed".

I think culture play a role in it.

When I’m places where there is drinking, it seems like it’s mostly the same group acting stupid, but I think many in the that group drink to get stupid.

I’ve made this connection not really by race but by place raised or assimilated to.

You can also pick up clues by listening to people talk before getting inebriated. The difference between people who say, “Let’s get wasted tonight,” and those who also plan to drink as much, but not with the purpose to act the fool. The difference between people who brag about how crazy they acted because they were drunk last night and people who don’t seem to take pride in the stupidity.

Sure there may be other factors, but culture plays a big role.

For many, getting drunk-crazy is fashionable, which may influence how they behave.

i don't know if it's considered an allergy, but many East Asians lack the enzymes that breaks down alcohol. i've heard that if you're lactose intolerant, but you start drinking milk regularly, your body will start producing more of the enzymes that breaks down dairy products. i wonder if that's true for alcohol. but at any rate, this is the reason that a relatively lower number of East Asians are alcoholic. a lot of people drink too much because they are unaware of just how much they've drank, due to their high tolerance.

For me, i think it deals less with culture and who i'm with. When i'm with my "kicking it" friends we get drunk and just chill and watch videos, play games. With other friends we do stupid shit like wander around or go skate (which doesn't always go together). When i'm dancing, i tend to be freaky. :D

Hmmm, I was a little fuzzy posting that. What I meant by 3rd time this has happened was, 3rd time some white dude has done some stupid shit on the train. First time a couple were similarly sitting across from me. Guy crosses his legs and his dirty ass shoes are on my wool coat. So I tell him to move his feet. It was wet outside too not sure snowing I forget. Girl apologizes guy slurs an apology out one out stares me down. I say to them woman, control your husband hes acting stupid. The guy starts touching her breast, she tells him to stop. He gets up to walk to the bathroom, falls on these 3 young kids and the wife disappears after him.

Not sure what you mean by that. My asian friends don't act like idiots the way white people do. My PR and Dominican friends just get a little belligerent. Blacks tend to get really friendly. I think that's about accurate. Depending on how poor your natural tolerance is, yeah, I have to imagine you can build it up over the years...just as you could with anything else.

A lot of Mainland Chinese are fucking maniacs. While I've toned down a bit over this past year or so, I'm a pretty thirsty guy and even I have been impressed by some of the psychopaths I've come across in China.

A lot get nothing but copious opportunity to practice -- I mean, those guys do shots during meals...at business meals...at business lunches. Here in the States people won't even have a beer anymore at a business lunch, while the Chinese will be downing multiple shots of bia-jiu at 1PM.

And on the topic of bai-jiu...anyone weaned on Chinese liquor has a leg up on everyone else (depending on how you look at things).

Chip on my shoulder? Whatevers, I'm just stating my own personal experience. And yes it's true I haven't gone drinking in any other places besides NY and Boston. I don't really plan on living in any other places except NY or a city in Cali. Cuz we NY'ers are geocentric like that.

The exact reason I'm posting this question is because I'm wondering what other peoples experiences are since I'm a geocentric, conceited NY'er like that. ;)

we were learning about alcohol in my nutritional science class. learned that most of the world drank alcohol cause it was hard to find good clean water. but in asia, ppl were drinking water more frequently than alcohol cause they were boiling it for tea. after a couple thousand years, maybe we lost or had a decrease in the amout of the specific enzyme that breaks down alcohol. that's why asians get "asian blush."

i've had my share of jackassed moments too, but i never really drink enough anymore to get to that point. my friends on the other hand... :D

1. You don't get out of the house enough to have a sufficiently-sized sample pool.
2. The size of your sample pool aside, you fixate on the white drunken idiots for some unknown reason.

If you're interested in others' experiences...my experience is that people of all races are capable of getting idiotically drunk all over the world.

Moreover, I find it difficult to believe that I'm actually spending time explaining that white people are no more often drunken buffoons than any other race. The assertion is, at best, silly and uninformed, or, at worst, racist.

Who are you to determine what has or has not happened. And who are you to assume what my sample size is. I hang out 2-4 weekends a month in Manhattan. Not counting the "asian clubs and lounges" the other spots I goto are all of a mixed crowd. Whatevers, you think I'm some stupid chinese herb that stays at home and relates my 2 times hangin out and assumes its true for all over the world. Like you know shit about me?

Be the idealist all you want, but several stereotypes in the world exist for a reason. I DO look at individuals, and I DO take things case by case. But when there's a bunch of idiot drunks on the train EVERY week, and they all happen to be mid 30's to mid 40's professional white men or women, one tends to wonder if that trend is true in other regions. Ok, fine since your nit picking, other regions of the US. Did I make the statement that all white people are a bunch of idiot drunks? Did I make the statement that ONLY white people are capable of being obnoxious drunks. If you don't believe that some stereotypes are at least somewhat valid, then your livin with your eyes closed. I drink with my co-workers very frequently and they all never turn into obnoxious idiots, and yes they're all white. But I d If anything I may be guilty of mistaking race for culture.
