View Full Version : Male Pregnancy
In fiction, Billy Crystal did it in 1978's Rabbit Test, and Ahnold followed suit in 1994's Junior. In reality, a 1999 research study in Britain explored the possibility and affirmed it. Using some of the techniques the study suggests, researchers at RYT Hospital have successfully impregnated a man.
Essentially an ectopic pregnancy, in vitro fertilization is used to implant an embryo and placenta into the man's abdominal cavity. Female hormones are injected, and delivery will be by c-section. The delivery is the most dangerous part, since the placenta will be attached to vital organs. Although the 1999 study says it is most likely safe to leave the placenta and let it be absorbed, the RYT researchers will attempt to remove it.
This brings many new possibilities, and many new questions. Now, homosexual couples may carry a child, and a woman who cannot carry a child may have her husband do so. As households increasingly have both sexes working full-time jobs, it may be the man who takes maternity leave. In fact, the largest complication may be amending the laws about maternity leave, which are gender-specific. Can any lawyers comment on this?
Religious groups are already clamoring about the procedure as an affront to god, and are lobbying Congress to enact a ban. George W. Bush has already stated that he will sign such a law. Democratic Primary candidate Howard Dean responded, giving his full support for the procedure as an M.D..
The hospital has a website located here (http://www.malepregnancy.com/).

This is quite an interesting topic because this was a hot issue in my junior high sex ed class.
It seemed funny back then...but are there ways biologically to make guys pregnant?
I doubt that because hey...God made females to reproduce with their eggs...and guys sperm to fertilize them eggies. Nothing more...nothing less.

No. Men lack the proper organs and body structure.

That would be sweet, then I wouldn't have to be the one that gets fat.

I don't like that. Obviously, God/Mother Nature/whoever rules things in the universe designed us a specifc way to handle specific duties, and this is evident in our biological makeups. Males have bodies have muscular chests that are designed to take a lot of force because they we were designed to protect females and children. Females have bodies designed for childbirth (hence the wider hips, breasts, etc.). I don't see a reason for why anybody should change it. I mean, what PRACTICAL reason could there possibly be by allowing males to give birth? What economic benefit could there be? Nothing, no benefit whatsoever. Seems pretty crazy to me.
hate to burst your bubble but apparently, this whole site is supposedly a hoax.

Common sense would allow you to know that a man cannot become pregnant.

Og-- thanks for pissing off ppl like me who HAVE no common sense.

wow i cant believe i actually believed that. thanks shy!
i have to admit it was a pretty impressive site though... i mean, out of all the hoax sites i've seen, this one should win a gold medal!
but regardless of it being a hoax, it is still an interesting topic... what if it could happen in our lifetime?
many men have already stated 'no way hosey!' and some women have said they'd rather not that their husband be pregnant.
so... would this sort of thing, if it became reality, take?
and if so... imagine the social-cultural impact it would have on society!

Now that I think about it.............how stupid could we have been to actually a believe a man could become pregnant?
I guess if somebody posted a site showing monkeys could fly out of somebody's ass, with enough "scientific evidence" (i.e. mumbo jumbo that sounds intelligent) we'd believe that, too.
But then again, you can't blame us. We live in a world where men can become women and vice versa, where you can see all kinds of crazy shit like that on Ripley's Believe or Not, Guiness Book of World Records, etc. so I guess it can be hard to figure out what's real and what's not nowadays.
and if so... imagine the social-cultural impact it would have on society!
A male becoming pregnant would be a careful, intentional act. Would such a male be allowed to get an abortion?

i don't want to even imagine the back-alley version of an abortion for a pregnant man would be X_x

interesting...
i would think that the pregnancy would be allowed to be aborted if something physically goes wrong w/ either the pregnant man or the baby.
