OMG. I have bug bites. They are SO itchy! I don't know what to do besides scratching them, but that makes me want to scratch more even though it starts hurting! AH! What do I do? What do I do?!

Use Tiger Balm, but if you don't have that put baking soda or toothpaste on 'em.

Haha. Tiger balm. I remember when I was in grade school, all the guys would flock to me because they all played sports and they fell in love with the stuff.
But that's for aches and stuff, right?

If I’m thinking about the right thing, I think my mother used to have that stuff as a cure all (That and Alcoholado and Vicks). Kind of like the guy obsessed with Windex in My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
I used to piss me off because I couldn’t stand the smell, yet she’d smear it on everyone with a complaint.
She used to get it when she went to the Caribbean. I didn’t know it was available up here. If it is, I’m surely not going to tell her. ;)

pure my parents tell me to apply saliva right after the bite (duno how effective but i do it). anyway try not to leave the flesh area exposed cuz weather (like cold weather) can make it sensitive and you start thinking about it again. u wanna get your mind off it thats whats important.
use a lil hot water too (showers seem to help)

Stinky?! Tiger Balm kicks ass! RRRROWWWRRR!!!
We use White Flower embrocation here. It's basically menthol and oils.
It's about teh only thing I use that makes me remotely Chinese.

I've used Po Sum On oil for mosquito bites, but they don't seem to help...but the oil smells nice =p you could try wetting a towel with really hot water, and apply it onto the skin. when I used to have bad mozzie bites, it helped stop the swelling and itching.

Do you guys get swollen when you get bug bites? For some reason ever since I went to Norcal every bug bite I get... it swells up like mad. This tiny bite went around my entire calf, it was so bad when my boss saw it she made me leave and go to the student health center to get it checked out. It wasn't a big deal except I couldn't sleep cause it was so horribly itchy no matter what I put it on it.

It wasn't a big deal except I couldn't sleep cause it was so horribly itchy no matter what I put it on it.
One of my neices and one of my nephews swell badly.
Their bites don't always swell into a big round lump. They swell and become wide. If you aren't looking at them closely, they look more like big red welts than bites.
They don't seem to itch more than normal, though.
I rarely get like that. Never nearly as red (however, I am darker than them) and mine only swell that large once in a blue moon.
My mother has some other nasty smelling substance she douses them with that seems to help the kids.

Some insects like mozzies carry diseases, so if it gets abnormally swollen, I think you should get it checked out....When I was little, I had a really bad one on my foot and had to go to hospital for it. :(
