View Full Version : WTF is up with Blind Date?

Okay. I just watched another epsisode of Blind Date.

my question is, why the fuck do they always set up asian women with white men? I guess these asian women choose to be set up with white men, but why the hell don't they ever show an Asian male with an Asian female? Seems a little suspicious to me. This outrages me. I don't even know where to begin. I'm speechless. Not once have I seen a white woman paired up with a minority male. Not once. Is there something wrong with me? Or is there something wrong with the producers? Or, is this the way it [i:f90af23200]should [/i:f90af23200]be?

The reasoning is pretty much this -- white men can't understand why Asian females would ever go for Asian males (aside from all those unjust "cultural reasons"). It's just not something they want to see.

Oh well. I guess we just have to add UPN to our shopping cart in the future:)

my friends and i were at highland two weeks ago, and this guy approached us as a group (we were all asian girls) and asked if any of us would be interested in being on blind date.

now that i think about it, there were very few asian guys at the highland.

anyway, from what i hear, it's because most viewers wouldn't want to see asian girls or white girls paired up with an asian guy. the same idea goes for why the bachelor is a much more popular show that the bachelorette. most people would much prefer watching a guy with a number of girls than vice versa.

still, they [i:4302cf222b]have[/i:4302cf222b] the bachelorette even though the ratings aren't very high. i guess so as not to be sexist. so what's up with being racist?

mrazntre

apparently, racism IS the norm.

I'd be interested to know how many Asian guys have applied to be on [i:edf4a9af7e]Blind Date[/i:edf4a9af7e]. I'm willing to believe that some have auditioned for the show and were turned down for racial reasons. But I'm just as willing to believe that there aren't that many Asian guys who would want to go on such a relatively trashy show, who believe that doing so would be undignified and not the best way to meet one's soulmate.

Granted, without enough Asian guys on [i:edf4a9af7e]Blind Date[/i:edf4a9af7e], the show becomes one more reinforcement of the over-used WM/AF paradigm, to the exclusion of Asian men as romantic figures. And that can continue to have negative effects on the community. But I'd like to see some data about just how many Asian men have auditioned to be on the show before I accuse [i:edf4a9af7e]Blind Date[/i:edf4a9af7e] of racism.

One more thing: I've seen at least two episodes of [i:c6e9567d79]Blind Date[/i:c6e9567d79] in which a white woman was paired with a black man. And in both episodes, the black man came across as the more intelligent, agreeable person on the date.

That annoying asian girl was Francine Dee. Shes an import model who has breast implants. I saw the show and she kept mentioning her website while looking down at her chest. The date was tired and also tired of dealing with her..

Rowena Galam is the sexist girl, but her lips and boobs are fake. Shes on the Houston Revolution team and my cousin that has met her got a photo snap shot with her and he told me that her boobs look plastic....don't ask.

Have you ever seen those lips on mrs. francine dee? looks nasty and her face is soo fake.

as long as you're talking smack and not actually smacking her for talking.

but maybe the reason i can't do any girls or get anywhere close to a first date is BECAUSE i'm always talking smack about them...like once i'm comfy w them and think they're ok ppl to interact with.

Yesterday, I was watching [i:6a8305697b]Blind Date[/i:6a8305697b], and the show paired up a South Asian American couple. It was nice to see because the guy was so cool, the gal was so cute, and they were both into their Indian culture. Unfortunately for the guy, the date didn't work out. Down as he was, the guy tried to move in too fast, and she was obviously a take-things-slow kind of gal.

Nevertheless, it was kind of refreshing to see a cool, hip Asian guy on the show.

yeah damn she looks so different now with all that work done on her body. in all honesty i think if i were to have sex with her, i would be a little bothered by the way her boobs look during the course of the sex. they just look too fake. i've never slept with anyone with big fake boobs before. she looked much better when she was natural.

it's really strange to me, that the media thinks it's a taboo to pair a black person with a white person, so they usually have black couples, while at the same time they absolutely make sure to pair an asian woman with a white man. for once, i would like to see someone like lucy liu or kelly hu paired up with an asian man. and no, The Rock does not fit the image of an asian man in the media's eye. the same way that Keanu Reeves does not fit that image either and does nothing to further the asian american image in the media.

Does anyone remember that Asian (acutally mixed) girl Lola (Corwin) who was on Temptation Island I?
Maybe she didn't look as fake, and I personally think her modeling shots are quite nice, but she didn't seem to show much there in terms of personality and intelligence.
Question (asked to all): Why should you be allowed to stay on the island?
Answer: I haven't gone skinny dipping yet.
Alas, she was the first temptress/ single woman to get cut.

And on The Bachelor, there was that grad student Tina, who was lucky to make the first cut, but when she got the rose from the guy, she stuck her tongue at him!

I think people like that are making Asians look bad. Or something like that.

I think it would be fun to try being on a show like Elimidate (assuming it's all somewhat real and not scripted), but I'm probably not as aggressive as would be needed to get far in the game, and also, my dissing abilities (or lack thereof) probably wouldn't make for good TV.
Hopefully there aren't too many Asian guys like me. :P
Maybe I could have 4 girls going for me, if I can plan a good set of activities.

Is race one of them?

my friend and I were discussing the possibilty of actually calling elimidate and trying to get down, but... I don't know how the hell I would be able to deal with 4 women at the same time. That would take way too much energy.

plus, i don't think i have enough class to be on that show.. . i'd be checking the cleavage and booty. hAH!

I remember seeing one Elimidate that took place in Las Vegas, it was an attractive asian girl and all she had were white guys. Yep, they picked the right girl. i wonder what that message sends to the masses? hmm....

There was some dating show I saw once where they hooked up an Asian couple. ..Taildaters, I think. Damn, they hated each other.
