i read on pennyarcade.com (gaming comic) that one thign that sucks is the players are distributed randomly to different servers therefore u have to BUY a ticket to a different server if u wanna play w/a friend (and start all over too)

i got it the day after it came out cause i preordered it. i installed it. but i haven't been able to play because of midterms. i'd rather not start until they're over cause i know i won't be able to control myself... but i'll let you know what's up after i try it out! :D

$13 a month? that's not too bad if you don't plan on doing much else entertainment wise. just don't watch the crap movies out there and you'll do just fine.

I am one of those horrendously MMORPG playing people. Heh, used to be guild leader of a high end raiding guild in EQ etc.. etc.. etc..

I'm playing FFXI with a few friends of mine, somewhat casually, we all got really burnt out from EQ. But basically, the graphics are amazing. The controls are horrendous. It's really built for the PS2. Once you get used to the controls and macros you really don't even have to use your mouse.

Gameplay is similar to EQ. Guild structure / levelling / time sinks are there. Some time sinks are quite painful. From what I can tell from my limited exposure is that it's a PvE MMORPG so far, they say they're gonna ad PvP content tho.

I believe there is quite a bit of guild raid content, but the game is fun enuff just to play that so far newbie levels have been fun. It seems like the raiding content is doable by 1-3 groups of people as long as they're of sufficient levels. Shrug.

Btw, the BEST way to get on your friends server is to obviously get a world pass. If you can't get a world pass cuz your friend is too cheap to buy you one. The quickest way is to make a character with the same name as your friend. Go through char creation. If it says the name is taken. Change the name go through, press escape when it asks for your handle, goto delete your char and you'll be able to see your server. If it doesn't say your name is taken, escape out to the main menu, goto create character and start all over.

if a guild is the same thing as a clan, it's basically a bunch of players who form a loose association. i guess they band together to do shit. in PvP muds, you usually get each others backs when ppl try to kick your ass.

I was never a big fan of RPG's simply because I never really sat down to take the time to learn how they worked. Can't imagine that the battles would be too intense. Super magic warlord unleashes fiery attack of doom on your Purple Wylocke Demon of the North, you lose 50 life points! Do you choose to stay and fight or run away?? Yea I prefer real time ^^

Last night a friend called me over to his house to see him play Final Fantasy 11 for the first time. He had started getting everything set up at 4PM and when I came over at 8:30PM he was STILL going through set up. At 9PM, he had finished set up and had to download (through a cable modem) all the update files and get it installed on the hard drive to his PS2. This took over an hour. It's too bad he didn't buy the keyboard and mouse. At 10:30, he had just finished making his handle and set out on Vana Diel to find out whatever the heck he was supposed to do. After he wandered around aimlessly he saw some PC's milling about or just standing around. I think I saw someone get their items stolen. Can people steal your stuff? He had just got there and had nothing to steal so I guess he was safe at the time. He saw how tall some of the characters were and decided to exit and start another character so he could be as tall as them. :rolleyes:
I left at 11PM because I had a headache and couldn't stand it anymore. I think Final Fantasy is a complete waste of time. That was the most nerdiest, useless gaming experience I've ever witnessed. A couple years ago it took me only 30 minutes to connect my Dreamcast to the internet. Sony has a lot to learn from Sega and Square/Enix needs to make better games and just let Final Fantasy 11 actually become their last and FINAL Final Fantasy.

While he is running around taking care of things on the joystick, I find myself typing away on his keyboard chatting with other people. I have to constantly remind myself I would probaly alienate some friends on his buddy list if I started flirting too much with them. What is platinum ore for? He went to an auction house and while everyone was selling it for 18,000 GIL, he dropped his price to 16,000 GIL, but no one had bought it yet by the time I left.

seals are needed to fight the burning circle notorious monsters at lvl 40 i think.
