"going out" is something I would say in highschool.
However, I've found that "dating" has very different meanings when you ask different people. To me "dating" has always meant that the other person is your girlfriend, like "i used to date her" or "we're dating"... although to alot of girls I've talked to the term "dating" isn't exclusive, ie: "I'm dating more than one person".
Which one is right? And if you are bf/gf, than what else do you use to describe it other than "dating?" "going out" still sounds too HS to me, and "seeing" makes it sound like we're just f*cking.

going where?
ekekkekeke
okiee. that was corny.
for me "dating" is a term i'd use when
i'm exclusive.
the term "seeing" is probably more lax.
but i've never "seen" someone
just to fuck. so. i don't know
what term i'd give that type of
relationship.
going out. kekekek
that is high school. lol

dating - you're not exclusive to that one person
going out - you're now the exclusive sextoy of the person you're seeing.
mm, i mainly use "dating".
i never really got "going out"
same here... i thought they meant sort of the same thing but just were different expressions. i haven't heard the term 'going out' for a long time now.

i'm confused
how do ppl refer to an official exclusive arrangement?
as opposed to one where you are sleeping w/ multiple ppl?

i'm not into labels.
is it really that important what you call it? *curious*

isn't it important to know whether or not ppl are obligated to one another exclusively?

of course, but i just ask something like, "so what do you think about going exclusive?" or something to that effect. none of the dating/going out ambiguity... just spell it out.
But i think the question of the differece between "dating" and "going out" is different no? or is the underlying question behind what kasia posted?

i dunno.
i tend to think that 'going out' is like....'hey wanna go out for coffee' kind of thing. you know, that stage right before actually 'dating'.
maybe i'm just nuts.
