Before you write this off as whining im not just talking about that stupid hung you figure it out stuff

anyway the YW homepage pics all have stuff like activism and vincent chin and the camps so i wonder, WHY is Kelly Hu's pic invoked with all those? what has she done (and that stuff magazine interview aside, im not even gonna bring it up here) to be worthy of standing next to those?

well my point being if kelly hu is put up there cuz she's such a great entertatiner then by that same logic why not jackie chan? oh wait but i guess jackie chan is not worthy of such activist prestige unlike kelly hu.

and if one is gonna just say "who cares she's hot" then yes, why not natasha yi? why not any ol asian model?

haha, actually i was being semi-serious. i do see your point. and actually, i think natasha or maybe kristin kreuk should be put in place of kelly hu. but just cuz they're hot and they haven't pissed off a part of the activist community. we could put helen zia up there if we want to be serious tho...

who's helen zia?

thing about kristin kreuk is though yes she is hapa (am i right about that?) she gets around as a white girl not that there's anything wrong with it and i dont blame her (girls gotta eat) but yeah to say someones a rolemodel for the asian comm for playing white characters is iffy for me

i know this probly wont get much support, but i would like to use this topic here as a sort of petition, to get her face off the yw frontpage, if need be, replace it with someone more worthy.

listen to what ive said and consider this, all whining aside i have a point, what did she do to warrant being on that pedestal?

why not x, y, z and a million other people? i agree Helen Zia's pic on the frontpage would be a good idea, but-- please don't take it as a personal attack, x-- i think it's petty to say "WHY NOT..." some other entertainer? There are quite a few people, so if we started a "why not" conversation, it could last forever, since we can't put up every AA entertainer's pic.

and about kristin, she's said herself that she doesn't want to be a rolemodel for hapas or asians unless and until she's actually done something that qualifies her to take that postition. i just wanted her pic up there cuz she's hot.

I don't run every image through a "Asian Enough?" meter. I liked it because of the image itself, although some objected to using it as part of our main banner because it insinuated violence.

Feel free to submit any suggestions...

i thought she had been? ali moussavi was the guy who supposedly did it. i guess arab (ragheads) ((no offence)) are the exception to the stereotypes of asian men, huh?

Er, when I said Asian I meant the usual suspects. You know who I mean(nudge, nudge) For example if I said, wow, kool! Kelly Hu dated Ali Mossavi! That means she does like Asians so I guess I have a decent chance with her. You see how that doesn't quite work? I wish it would but I really don't think so.
